Becoming a Client
The steps to becoming a client.
- Review our website to determine if our client solutions include the services that you interested in obtaining.
- If so, give us a phone call to have a short exploratory phone conversation and make an appointment for a “Get Acquainted Meeting”. 800-347-1340
- Complete the forms to the left: Client Questionnaire, Financial Fitness Survey, and Investing-Who does What. This information will make our meeting more efficient.
- At the complimentary “Get Acquainted Meeting”, we will discuss more about you and what you are looking to achieve. You will learn more about our firm and services and the associated costs.
At the conclusion of the meeting, you will then have the information needed to determine if we are a good fit in working together.
If you opt to work together, the first step is developing your financial plan covering those areas relevant to you and your situation.
Most clients also choose to use our on going investment advisory services and meet quarterly in the management of their portfolio.
To make our first meeting efficient we need some basic information about you and your situation. Please provide the information via one of the thre methods:
Financial Fitness Survey
The purpose of this survey is to identify those areas where you have concerns and point out where you would benefit from getting some professional assistance.
Download the form that is appropriate for you (pre-retirement or in retirement), complete it then schedule your complimentary “Get Acquainted Meeting” to discuss it. If you’re married, your spouse should also fill out a copy of the survey, but don’t peek over each other shoulders while completing it, your individual opinions are important.

Investing - Who Does What
There are three distinct phases of successful investing: The Design of the investment plan, the Implementation of the plan and the Perpetuation of the plan. This third phase is the ongoing process of monitoring the allocation and investments as well as making changes as needed over time.
There are 5 methods or options for completing these 3 phases. The most appropriate method for you should be based on what you are willing and capable of doing and what areas you may need some help. The 5 options include:
- Invest on your own without professional assistance.
- As-needed professional help. The professional develops your plan, you implement the recommendations and then return for additional help over time, as is needed.
- A collaborative, co-managed approach. Professional develops the plan, both implement the plan, professional proactively monitors and reports. Joint decisions.
- Engage an investment manager who makes unilateral decisions.
- Use the services of a salesperson that gets paid commissions.

Investment advisors, like all providers of personal financial services in California, are required by law to inform their clients of their policies regarding conflict of interest.
Investment advisors have been and continue to be bound by professional standards that are even more stringent than those required by law. Unfortunately, this is not the case when working with a sales motivated advisor. (Stockbroker, insurance agent etc.)
Since we do not sell product nor accept referral fees, there are few if any ways for conflicts of interest to occur. This is one of the main features of fee-only planning.
Should any transactions possibly be construed as a conflicts of interest, it will be documented for you in writing.
We will always transact client business before our own business when similar securities are bought or sold.
You are under no obligation to act on any investment advise we provide to you. If you do act, you are under no obligation to effect the transaction through our firm.
We do not have the capacity to work with everyone that inquires about our services and there is a limited number of other fee only financial planners in many areas. The following advisors are very familiar with working remotely with clients. All of the following are members of the Garrett Planning Network, which is the largest organization of Fee-Only Hourly Planners.
It is suggested that you review their websites to determine if they may be a good fit for your financial planning needs then contact them to learn more.
